Strange Coincidences

I get strange coincidences in life a lot. Sometimes I am afraid to read certain books, because things often happen in "real life" that coincide with my reading material of the moment.

I recently checked out a book from the library, by Gregory Maguire, called "Mirror Mirror."

I had enjoyed his "Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" which Jim had borrowed from Elinoire. I initially tried to get "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister," but after I requested it, the library decided it was lost. "Mirror Mirror" came from another library in the circuit. I'd never tried requesting a book from outside UCSD, so I decided to try it. So this was a fairly randomized choice, all told.

"Mirror Mirror" features Lucrezia Borgia. I had to look her up on Wikipedia, having no real idea who she was, but knowing I had heard the name before.

I finished "Mirror Mirror" and started reading another book I checked out at the same time, by Carrie Fisher, called "
The Best Awful." I found this book by searching the library records for "Humorous Fiction", so it was another fairly randomized choice.

In "The Best Awful," the main character has a name for who she becomes when she goes off her medication... guess what it is...
Lucrezia Borgia.

I think the universe is warning me that there is a Lucrezia Borgia in my life. All I can say now is this would be someone to avoid at all costs.

Just Another Bloody Sunday

When you believe in things
That you don't understand
Then you suffer...
Superstition ain't the way

I guess 'cause god is on our side it makes us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side I don't believe them
